Pontes Village
Located in the heart of the Peneda and Gerês National Park, the village of Pontes is a traditional wintering village in Castro Laboreiro.
Manuel Rodrigues, a former emigrant in France and a merchant in Castro Laboreiro, after seeing with great sadness and nostalgia the village where he was born and raised lifeless and completely abandoned, began at the age of 60 to bring life back to this village, first by raising Cachena breed cows, then beekeeping and finally rebuilding houses for Rural Tourism.
The project currently includes 8 houses, all of which have maintained their original design and all have a fireplace and private outdoor area with barbecue. A swimming pool exclusively for guests was recently completed, as well as a reception area where you can also buy local products, such as smoked meats, cheeses, honey and Alvarinho wine.
The stream that runs through the village, the numerous trails with varying degrees of difficulty, the Laboreiro River with its fantastic waterfalls and lakes, the mountain goats in the surrounding mountains and all the built heritage (aqueduct, oven and community mill) combine to provide excellent moments of relaxation, nature walks, cultural discovery and plenty of peace and quiet.
